Help

To use the wotsinit.com database, you need to select a number of different criteria and click the big question mark to search. Products that match your criteria are listed and you can click the "i" against a product to see its full ingredients, along with allergy and nutritional details.

Explanation of Selection Criteria

Product Ranges and Sub Ranges: We've grouped products into the sections that you would find in a supermarket, e.g. Cakes are in the Bakery section.

Manufacturers: The company that makes the product. For "own brand" and "instore" goods we've listed the supermarket as the manufacturer.

Food Groups and Ingredients: We've organised food ingredients into groups based on the US Department of Agriculture classifications. See the USDA website for more information.

Allergens: These are the substances that are specifically mentioned on food product labels in warnings for food allergy sufferers, e.g. gluten, lactose, peanuts, nuts, as identifed by the UK Food Standards Agency's Guidance Notes on the Food Labelling Regulations 2004.

Certifications: Again, these are as specifically stated on the food product labels, e.g. gluten free, suitable for vegetarians or organic. We've noticed that a lot of products that don't seem to contain meat or fish, for example, are not specifically labelled as suitable for vegetarians, so we haven't listed them as "certified" vegetarian.
